Jewelry Care Guide

At ORE Jewelry, we believe your jewelry is the finishing touch — the detail that completes your story. That’s why it deserves thoughtful care and attention.

Daily Care

Treat your jewelry as the final step in your routine — the last thing you put on before heading out, and the first thing you take off when you return home.

18K gold vermeil

Our Gold Vermeil jewelry is made of thick 18k gold layered over 925 sterling silver. Though durable, this layer can wear down over time. To preserve your piece’s brilliance:

  • Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, and cosmetics.
  • Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, or cleaning.
  • Keep pieces dry and store them away from humidity and chemicals.

S925 Sterling silver

Our pieces crafted from 925 sterling silver may naturally tarnish over time. This is not a flaw, but a chemical reaction between silver and elements in the air. In fact, frequent wear can help prevent tarnish, so we encourage you to enjoy your silver jewelry often.

If your pieces start to lose their shine or appear darker, don’t worry — a gentle cleaning solution and a soft cloth can restore their brightness in no time.

Storage

Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place — a jewelry box or soft pouch is perfect. Avoid storing pieces in the bathroom, where moisture can accelerate tarnish. To prevent scratches, store each piece separately.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

Just like your self-care routine, cleaning your jewelry regularly helps maintain its shine and longevity.

ORE’s Cleaning Kit includes all the essentials you need to gently clean your pieces at home. For on-the-go maintenance, our Cleaning Cloth is the perfect solution — ideal for quick touch-ups and preventing early tarnish.

Note: Use extra care when polishing Gold Vermeil to avoid damaging the gold layer. Gentle is best.

Freshwater pearls

Each of our beautiful freshwater pearls has been carefully cultivated and selected. Freshwater pearls originate from freshwater mussels and come in a variety of sizes and shapes—including oval, teardrop, button, and baroque. Pearls are particularly delicate, which makes it all the more important that you treat them with love and care.Learn more.

mother-of-pearl

Mother-of-pearl comes from the deepest layer of precious shells. Each piece is completely unique and appears in varying shades from light pink to light blue.

Frequently Asked Questions

In short: Yes. While solid gold is more resistant, we recommend keeping all types of jewelry away from lotions, cosmetics, soaps, and perfumes. These substances can dull shine and accelerate tarnish, especially on Gold Vermeil and Sterling Silver pieces.

You probably guessed it — these activities aren’t ideal for wearing your jewelry. Even though solid gold can handle sweat, physical activity may cause scratches or exposure to harsh elements.

If you forget to take your jewelry off, don’t worry — use the ORE Cleaning Kit to gently polish your piece and restore its brilliance.

Store your solid gold pieces in a cool, dry place — ideally in a soft pouch or your jewelry box. Since gold is a naturally soft metal, it can scratch easily. To prevent this, store each item separately.

We recommend investing in our ORE Cleaning Kit, which includes everything you need to care for your solid gold treasures.

Gemstones deserve a little extra attention. Always store them separately to prevent scratches. While light marks on metal may polish away, gemstones can be more sensitive. Use a microfiber cloth — like the one in our Cleaning Kit — for gentle cleaning.

These natural beauties require only a bit of mindful care. Avoid contact with lotions, cosmetics, soaps, and perfumes, as they can damage the surface and reduce the natural luster. To clean shell elements, simply use a soft microfiber cloth like the one in the ORE Cleaning Kit.

Pearls are delicate and porous — keep them away from lotions, cosmetics, soaps, and perfumes to prevent them from turning dull. Pearls also like to "breathe", so avoid storing them in airtight containers.

Store your pearl and mother-of-pearl jewelry separately to prevent scratching. If needed, gently wipe them with a soft microfiber cloth, like the one included in our Cleaning Kit.
